The Stanford Climbing team was founded in 2012 by undergraduates interested in building a strong climbing community. It has since grown from a handful of dedicated members to over 40 competitive climbers and is now recognized as an official Stanford Club sport.
During the academic year the team competes in local, regional, and national competitions that are part of the USA Climbing Collegiate Series. The Stanford Climbing Team is one of the top teams in the nation, having earned the gold medal at the 2018 and 2019 Collegiate National Championships. Outside of competitions, the climbing team plans trips to outdoor climbing destinations including Yosemite, Bishop, and Red Rocks.
The Stanford Climbing Team is open to current undergraduate and graduate students committed to attending weekly practices. Tryouts are held at the beginning of fall quarter each year.
